The Night Chase
It was almost midnight when Ryan left the office. The streets were quiet, and most of the shops were already closed. He was tired and wanted to get home as quickly as possible.

As he walked toward the parking lot, he heard a strange sound behind him.

He turned around, but nobody was there.

When he reached his car, he suddenly noticed a black car parked across the street. Its engine was running, but there was no one outside.

Suddenly, the black car moved closer.

Ryan looked at the mirror again.

Ryan quickly changed lanes.

He saw a large gas station ahead and turned into it.

The black car stopped outside.

Ryan got out of his car and ran inside the station.

“Please help me,” he said to the worker. “Someone has been following me.”

The worker immediately locked the door and called the police.

Ryan looked through the window.

The black car was still there.

Then something unexpected happened.

The driver got out of the car and walked toward the station.

Ryan stepped back.

The man stopped near the door.

For a moment, nobody moved.

Then the man raised his hands.

“I don't want to hurt you,” he said.

Ryan looked at him with confusion.

The man took a deep breath.

“Because you dropped something outside your office.”

He reached into his pocket and showed Ryan a small black wallet.
أخرج من جيبه محفظة سوداء صغيرة وأراها لرايان.
Ryan looked at his own pocket.
نظر رايان إلى جيبه.
His wallet was missing.
كانت محفظته مفقودة.
“But why didn't you just call me?” Ryan asked.
قال رايان: "لكن لماذا لم تتصل بي فقط؟"
The man smiled.
ابتسم الرجل.
“I tried. Your phone was inside the wallet.”
قال: "حاولت. كان هاتفك داخل المحفظة."
Ryan suddenly remembered that his old phone was still in the wallet. He had recently bought a new phone for work and had forgotten about the old one.
تذكر رايان فجأة أن هاتفه القديم كان لا يزال داخل المحفظة. فقد اشترى مؤخرًا هاتفًا جديدًا للعمل ونسي الهاتف القديم.
A few minutes later, the police arrived.

Ryan explained what had happened. The man also explained that he had noticed the wallet on the ground and wanted to return it.

Ryan felt embarrassed.

He had spent the last twenty minutes thinking he was being chased by a dangerous person.

But in the end, the man had only been trying to help.

Ryan thanked him and apologized for the misunderstanding.

As he finally drove home, he laughed at himself.
